Try incorporating these health, hygiene and nutrition habits and stay healthier this cold and flu season.

Healthy Habits

  • Get the flu shot
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water for 20 seconds throughout the day
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth
  • Avoid contact with sick people
  • Cover your mouth when coughing and sneezing
  • Stay home if you have a respiratory infection and the following 24 hours after a fever
  • Clean your phone, keyboard and other hand-held devices
  • Start and end your day with a warm bath or shower
  • Get 7-8 hours of sleep ever night
  • Stay active throughout the winter months


    • Stay hydrated with 1.5 to 2 litres of water daily
    • Increase your Vitamin C with fruits and vegetables
    • Eat brightly coloured fruits and vegetables
    • Add onion and garlic to your meals
    • Support your immune system with beta-glucans from oats and barley
    • Drink camomile or green tea and other warm beverages
